International Women's Day
Yesterday (March 8) was International Women's Day! To celebrate some of the incredible contributions women make to the world every single day, I wanted to write a post that's a little different than my regular lifestyle posts, thanking some of the women in my life. I won't be using any names to preserve privacy, but y'all know who you are ;)
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for pushing me to be the best I can be, and believing I can be even better than that. It's hard to believe in yourself if others don't, and the women in my life have been so vocal about their belief in me.
Thank you for exploring with me. I've found some of my favorite places with women by my side, finding new adventures around every corner but still feeling totally safe. Sometimes, hanging out with your friends can turn into the same routine every time -- try something new! Maybe go to a new restaurant, play a new board game, or just explore your town with fresh eyes.
Thank you for teaching me. In school and out of it, I've learned so much from the women in my life. I learned to love learning from women, and I hope to be able to teach young women just as well.
Thank you for helping me to heal. All throughout my illness and recovery, women have held my hand and gotten me through the darkest parts. Plus, I've had some pretty badass women doctors throughout the process -- thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you for listening to me. Sometimes, we just need to talk to someone who won't judge us, and I can pinpoint so many individual conversations with women through the years that have helped me understand myself better. Advice comes from truly understanding the person and their problems, and women have truly shaped the path of my life thanks to their advice.
Thank you for showing me what success looks like. It doesn't look the same for everyone, that's for sure, but there are so many versions of successful women in my life that I am never short on inspiration.
Thank you for making me laugh. There's nothing quite like the fits of laughter and giggles my friends and I fall into, and even being separated this year as they're off at college doesn't matter! We're together for five minutes and it's like we were never apart. I've really needed those laughs this year, and my friends have been so supportive and caring, as well as HILARIOUS (or at least we think we're pretty funny).
Thank you for being YOU. <3
Which women in your life are YOU thankful for? What lessons have they taught you?
Let me know in the comments down below!
Until next time ~
