Welcome to thrivewithstyle.

My name is Maria, and for my eighteen years on this earth, I have been slowly forming an opinion on most everything I’ve come across (much like my hero Leslie Knope, I even have an opinion on pockets). For some time, I’ve considered putting all those opinions together in a blog that can somehow collect all my interests, and now that I’ve graduated from high school and will have a bit more time over a gap year, I’m taking the plunge.

Follow along with me as I continue growing -- growing my opinions, growing my knowledge, and just plain growing up.

What is “thrivewithstyle”?

When picking a name for my blog, I had quite a sizeable list going. I often turn to poetry for inspiration, and one of my favorite writers’ quotes stood out to me as a perfect encapsulation of my life, as captured on this blog.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
— Maya Angelou

Apart from that just being a good life motto, it spoke to me even more after this past year. I’ve been going through a series of health scares and seemingly unsolvable conundrums that stump doctor after doctor. Angelou’s encouragement to thrive, instead of just to survive, seemed so perfect. And while I aspire to have passion, compassion, and humor, too, style seemed most appropriate for a lifestyle blog!

What kind of content will I find on thrivewithstyle?

All the content that rolls around my brain! Primarily, this blog will focus on this high school/college lifestyle of mine, including what I’m wearing, reading, watching, listening to, and trying my hardest not to buy (#budgetlife). There will also be coverage from my travels, which will undoubtedly be influenced by my love of sports (specifically ice hockey, volleyball, and baseball)!
